Abstract:
The research aims to determine the possibility of developing vaname shrimp cultivation in Mandalle District, Pangkep Regency, based on an analysis of water quality aspects, which consists of physical and chemical aspects. The method used is a survey method by selecting five research locations that may have prospects for the development of vanamei shrimp cultivation. Sampling was carried out at five stations, namely location 1, namely at a location at the northern tip of Pangkep Regency, which borders the coast of Barru Regency. Location 2 is the location around the port of the Pangkep State Agricultural Polytechnic Campus; location 3 is in a location close to mangove vegetation; location 4 is at the mouth of the Mandalle Village River; and location 5 is in the part adjacent to the rice fields and traditional market of Mandalle Village. The water quality data collected includes data on salinity, oxygen, temperature, and pH of the water. The data was then analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of the research show that based on the results of water quality analysis such as salinity, oxygen, temperature, and pH, the water is still in accordance with the growth and life needs of vaname shrimp, with salinity values in the salinity range of 15.83–33 ppt and dissolved oxygen of 3.02–4.67 ppm, temperature of 28.92–29.38oC and a water pH in the range of 6.0–6.73. Thus, the research location makes it possible to cultivate vanamei shrimp based on water quality aspects, which include physical and chemical aspects.
